Our History

Our History

Mrs. Angela Evans, and Apostle Frederick and Lady Elect Betty Price founded Frederick K. C. Price III Christian Schools, grades preschool through 12. The Founders followed the leading of the Holy Spirit to establish a school that provides an academically strong Christian education to the members of Crenshaw Christian Center and surrounding communities. In September 1986, the school opened its doors, and in September of 1993, it was dedicated in memory of the first-born son of Drs. Frederick and Betty Price. Although their son went to be with the Lord at a young age, many children have received while others will continue to receive a quality education established on the principles of the Word of God in his memory. We achieve this mission through the power of the Holy Spirit, under the guidance of a premier-managed organization with competent, effective, and satisfied personnel.

Our Legacy

Frederick K.C. Price III Christian Schools was founded in 1986 by Mrs. Angela Evans, Apostle Frederick K.C. Price, and Lady Elect Dr. Betty Price. The Lord gave Mrs. Angela Evans a vision of opening a bible-based school, founded on high academic and spiritual standards. This school would be led by born-again, Spirit-filled believers, who would stand before students daily as positive and influential role models. With this vision, Frederick K.C. Price III Christian Schools was born.

Mrs. Evans named the  Schools after her older brother Frederick III, who tragically died at the age of eight, and established the private schools in Los Angeles to educate the whole child –spirit, soul, and body. The legacy of the Schools began with the establishment of the Frederick K.C. Price III Child Care Center in September of 1985. The Frederick K.C. Price  III Elementary School came soon after in 1986, and the Middle School and High School followed in 1987 and 1992, respectively. In 2013, the schools’ name changed to Frederick K. C. Price III “Christian” Schools to fully encompass the Christian focus of the schools’ mission and curriculum.

Now, in its 36 years of operation, Frederick K.C. Price III Christian Schools:

  • Has successfully educated over 10,000 students from preschool through 12th grades in the South Los Angeles area

  • Has been the only nondenominational, Christian, preschool through 12th grade college-preparatory program in all of South Los Angeles

  • Maintains a 100% high school graduation rate since 1996

  • Maintains a 100% acceptance rate to 4-year colleges/universities for its graduates

  • Has received over $1,000,000 in college scholarships for its graduates

  • Has had over 10% of its alumni return to Price as teachers, coaches, mentors, and parents

Pepperdine University

Many may not know, but Christian-based education has been present on the private school’s Los Angeles campus since 1937! Prior to Crenshaw Christian Center’s move to the 32 acre Vermont Knolls grounds, the campus belonged to Pepperdine University, a small Church of Christ university now located in Malibu, California. The university was founded by Christian businessman George Pepperdine who, during the school’s opening ceremony in 1937, stated his intention for the school was especially dedicated to a greater goal of “building in the student a Christ-like life, a love for the church, and a passion for the souls of mankind.” Unknown to Mr. Pepperdine, this blessing on the grounds would prepare Price Schools for what it is today: a biblically-based college preparatory curriculum with personalized attention for all students.

Crenshaw Christian Center

After Pepperdine moved, Crenshaw Christian Center bought the property in 1981. "This Church that Faith Built" was founded by Apostle Frederick K. C. Price in 1973 at 9550 Crenshaw Blvd in Inglewood, CA. Because of its ever-increasing membership, CCC purchased the former Pepperdine University with the intention of building a structure to house more than 10,000 members; in 1984, CCC moved all of its activities to the grounds. Crenshaw Christian Center started out with a congregation of 300, and now faithfully teaches the Word of God to its over 18,000 members and people worldwide. Crenshaw Christian Center has seen tremendous spiritual growth and prosperity, and now under the leadership of Apostle Price’s son, Pastor Frederick K. Price Jr., will continue to inspire many generations to come.

Some of Crenshaw Christian Center’s endeavors over the past 38 years include the founding of the Fellowship of Inner City Word of Faith Ministries (FICWFM, which has since been renamed to the Fellowship of International Christian Word of Faith Ministries due to its growth and global reach); the establishment of CCC East in Manhattan, NY; “Ever Increasing Faith” TV, radio, CD, DVD, and magazine ministry; numerous books on faith, healing, prosperity, and the Holy Spirit; the Apostle Frederick Price Ministry Training Center; and the establishment of Frederick K.C. Price III Christian Schools.
